Taking ‘reduce, re-use and recycle’ as its mantra this innovative short film tells the story of recycling using 100% recycled footage.
Drawing on our passion for working with archive footage we trawled international archives and developed a technique of editing using layers of footage and sounds to create a visually arresting final film.
The cyclical story goes from the necessity that drove the ‘make do and mend’ culture of WW2 through the consumer boom of the 50’s, the emergence of the green movement in the 70’s (including footage of the UK’s first bottle bank opening in Barnsley), the throwaway culture of the 80s and 90s right up to the challenges of scarce resources and a growing eco-consciousness.
Commissioned by Studio Artois and the British Documentary Foundation The Recycled History of Recycling formed part of a series of four eco films which were aired on Channel Four's 3 Minute Wonder slot.
Honest Injun Films was selected from over 400 submissions in a nationwide search for the UK's hottest new talent. The films were screened as part of the short film programme at the 2007 Britdoc festival in Oxford.
